Despite the rain, the night before The Wobbles Relay for Life Cruise Against Cancer, many families, community leaders, and community members came out in support of the 1st Annual Relay for Life Cruise on April 26th. The cruise began by being lead by Colton Police and ended being lead by Colton Fire; beginning and ending at Cesar Chavez Park, traveling on Colton Avenue, Valley Blvd, north onto La Cadena Drive, then onto C Street. With great food from sponsor El Aguila Real Restaurant in Colton, entertainment by local artist singer/song writer Ralph Nirvus of Sok Munky, Dee J Abel and DJ Vincent Castro, and a car show hosted by Luis Villasenor. The car clubs in attendance included Classic Style, Early Pride, Street Life and Together Car Club. Thirty-two cars registered with the Best in Show award going to Cesar Esco from Together LA Car Club with his entry 1981 Cutlass. This was the first year that the City of Colton Parks and Recreation Commissioner Paul Rasso and his family entered the Relay for Life Cancer event under Team Wobbles. They share that their inspiration came from their desire to support the community, and support the fight against cancer, something that is familiar to the family. Paul's wife, Liz's mother has Stage 1 cancer and is currently fighting, however with such an early diagnosis, doctors are confident that the cancer is not life-threatening. Paul Rasso suffered the loss of his mother to cancer twenty-one years ago. This event exceeded the team’s goal towards this serious cause and looks to raise more money all the way up to the Relay for Life Event to be held on May 17th at Colton High School.
