Yesterday evening Grand Terrace residents saw clouds of smoke rising up from Blue Mountain. At approximately 4:52 pm, the San Bernardino County Fire reported that a vegetation fire had spread on Grand Terrace’s famous landscape, Blue Mountain.
Several residents took to social media providing updates on the fire for their community members. One of Grand Terrace resident’s Shannon Mead posted a photo on Twitter depicting a “view of the fire from my backyard,” in which it is a clear photo of bright orange and yellow flames peeking up over the rocks on Blue Mountain not appearing very far from local houses in the area.
At the time of reporting, 4:52 pm, the San Bernardino County Fire announced that the fire had burned 2.5 acres of Blue Mountain and was 0% contained. Due to the vicinity of the vegetation fire, the San Bernardino County Fire teamed up with the Riverside County Fire Department to help put out the flames.
Less than an hour later at 5:34 pm, San Bernardino County Fire reported that the Blue Mountain vegetation fire forward rate of spread stopped leaving approximately 5 acres burned. At this time Crews began transitioning to mop-up operations.
This is the last update by San Bernardino County Fire, as of November 25 at 11:00 am the cause of the fire is unknown.
