The Inland Master Chorale returns to live performance with “Vox Populi: Songs of our World” on Sunday, October 17 at 4 pm. The concert is outdoors at the Labyrinth adjacent to the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel, 1200 E. Colton Avenue, Redlands.

The concert celebrates the rich diversity of music from around the globe including pieces from Hawaii, South Korea, Africa, India, Ireland, and the Americas.

Chorale selections include “Arirang,” considered the unofficial national song of Korea, and “Incantations,” from Michael McGlynn’s Celtic Mass, sung in Irish.  The Mexican folk song “La Llorona” features soloist Wendy Lopez. Anna De Leon is the soloist on Argentina’s “Duerme Negrito.”  An Indian dancer will join in on “Desh,” an Indian raga.   Stephen Foster’s popular folk song “Oh! Susanna” includes a solo by Douglas Newton.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and children. Children under five are not admitted. Tickets are available at the venue or online at www.inlandmasterchorale.org.

The Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Joseph Modica, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Director of the School of Music at the University of Redlands.  Assistant Director Anna DeLeon is Director of Choirs at Grand Terrace High School.  Sophie Tait is the Chorale’s accompanist.

Chorale performers were required to be fully vaccinated for COVID19 to participate in the concert.  Since the concert is outdoors, masks are not required for audience members.

The Chorale’s 2021-22 season continues with “Caroling, Caroling!” on December 19; “Reflect, Remember, Rejoice” on March 13; and “Carmina Burana” on May 22.
