LOMA LINDA>> W. Jason Situ, an award-winning plein air painter, will demonstrate his technique at the Oct. 16 meeting of the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association, which will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Loma Linda Senior Center, located at 25541 Barton Road in Loma Linda. Admission is free for LLCAA members and Loma Linda University students; non-members pay an admission donation of $5. Situ will produce a painting during his presentation that gives visual evidence of his love for the natural beauty of California. Born in China, Situ was educated at the prestigious Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art, where he developed both a fine oil-painting technique and a curiosity about the United States. He emigrated to the states with his family in 1989. Situ said it was the California landscape itself that persuaded him to become a plein air painter, which he has been full time since 1997. Situ’s work has won him memberships in a number of regional and national art societies. Awarded Best in Show by the Oil Painters of America 10th Annual National Juried Show, he has also won top honors at the La Quinta Plein Air Juried Competition. Situ said he strives to keep contributing his best to the beauty of the art world, painting what brings him joy as an artist. He is represented at Heritage Gallery West, Paso Robles; O’Dunne Fine Art in La Mesa; Roger’s Gardens in Corona del Mar; and Saga Fine Art in Monrovia; all California locations.
