GRAND TERRACE>> Starting on the week of March 20, construction began on the I-215 Barton Road Interchange Project. Construction crews began utility relocation, which is much needed as part of the planned improvements to the Barton Road Interchange. AT&T and the Southern California Gas Company are relocating utilities to the northwest corner of Barton Road and Vivenda Avenue. The work was set to take place during Grand Terrace Elementary School’s Spring break and is scheduled to be completed prior to the students return to the school. Utilities from Barton and La Crosse Avenue to the east termination in front of the Shell Gas Station are going to be relocated. It is estimated that this project will take 14 working days to complete, but may also require a lane reduction. Most of the work will be performed during the day; the city of Grand Terrace warns that the work may be loud due to the type equipment needed to relocate the utilities. Once work is completed on Barton Road and La Crosse Avenue, work will than take place on the southeast side of Barton Road past the Shell Gas Station. Traffic delays will be expected so the City of Grand Terrace advises citizens to leave a little early in order to reach their destinations on time.
