Doug Wilson Seeks Election to City Council

I, Doug Wilson, am running for city council so I can be the Budget Watch Dog for every citizen of Grand Terrace. I am for all the good government we can afford, nothing more, nothing less. As an outspoken opponent of the Measure C Utility Tax initiative in November of 2013, Grand Terrace citizens sent a clear message with the overwhelming defeat of Measure C. You can’t tax yourself into prosperity. If you vote me onto the council this November, I will do everything in my power to make sure that message is not lost. You’ll get no smoke and mirrors from me, just hard work. In my professional life I handled $100 million dollar annual budgets, cash flows, schedules, and lived and breathed legal agreements, bonding and contracting, so you won’t catch me relying solely upon “the experts” to make a decision. I will do my homework. There will be regular hours at City Hall when you can talk to me about whatever is on your mind. What you get with me is a positive combination – pro-intelligent development, as well as development-savvy representation. If anybody questions my loyalties, they’ll hear the truth. My first priority has always been the citizens of Grand Terrace, and I am not afraid to stand on principle. Since 2005 I tried for mayor, ran for council, and chased vacated council seats, all while serving as Chairman of the Grand Terrace Planning Commission for 21 years. Maybe somebody else would have given up, but I refuse to give up on Grand Terrace. I promise to always oppose waste, bail-outs, budget mysteries, and taxes. 42 years of troubleshooting and working with local jurisdictions to create places for families to live have taught me that government and business must walk hand-in-hand with the needs of the community to prosper. Let’s build a great legacy for our children and grand children by running the City of Grand Terrace like the business that it is, and by providing necessary services while maintaining a firm hand on the check book.
