This past July, four skaters who call Cal Skate Grand Terrace their home, competed at the USARS National Roller Figure Skating Championships.

The Senior World Skate quartet team, The Ravens, have once again earned a place on TEAM USA to represent America at the World Skate Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This will be the fourth consecutive world championship in which the Ravens will skate for TEAM USA. Team members include Chance Becker, Kalei Becker (of Calimesa), Madeline Davies (Highland), and Evie Berg (Riverside), along with their coaches Verda Asman (Montclair) and Lori Becker (Calimesa).

In addition to the quartet, Chance and Evie will compete in the Senior World Skate Pairs event after taking the silver medal at the National Championships. Chance also won the silver medal in the Senior World Skate Men's Solo Dance event, which places him on TEAM USA in three disciplines. These four athletes devote countless hours to their training each week.

In addition, they each hold positions at Cal Skate Grand Terrace, working in between practices. Kalei is the operations manager at the rink. Chance, Madeline, and Evie all carry a full course load in their universities and earn high GPAs. The work ethic of these skaters certainly shows in their amazing achievements.

They will be performing at Cal Skate Grand Terrace on September 18th at 5 PM. Admission is $10 and the rink is donating 100% of admissions to the skaters to help offset the enormous cost of travel. The cost of attending the world championships is on the skaters.

Please come out and skate with the Academy of Champions and their TEAM USA skaters. Enjoy games, prizes and raffles. The skaters will be performing their winning routines! The Sunday Family night session admission is free to everyone that attends the 5 PM event, with the session ending at 8:30 PM. If you would like to make a donation to the skaters, you can do so in person at Cal Skate or by emailing GtAcademyofChampions@gmail.com.
