At just 18 years old, Izabella Sanchez has already made a lasting impact at Grand Terrace High School. A recent graduate and an exceptional student with a 4.0 GPA, Izabella has demonstrated what it means to balance academics and athletics with grace and determination. With high school now behind her, she’s setting her sights on the skies, literally as she begins her journey toward becoming an Aerial Firefighter. Her next step? Earning her pilot’s license at Mt. San Antonio College.

Izabella’s swimming journey began early. From ages 6 to 12, she competed for club swim teams including Piranhas, RAA, and Victory Aquatics. After taking a break during the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to the sport at GTHS and never looked back. With a total of 11 years of competitive swimming under her belt, she has made her mark both in the pool and in the classroom.

Her accomplishments in the water are nothing short of remarkable. As a Sophomore, she qualified for CIF in the 200 Individual Medley (IM). In her Senior year, she dominated at Finals, earning 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 IM, and anchoring the 200 Freestyle Relay to victory. For her achievements, Izabella was named the Citrus Belt Area Female Athlete of the Year, Ken Hubbs Female Athlete of the Year at GTHS, and received the Silver Medal Award for academic excellence.

Beyond athletics and academics, Izabella enjoys spending time with friends and exploring the world. She’s already traveled internationally five times, visiting places like Cancun, Canada, Japan, the British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas and she is headed to Italy this month!

When asked about her biggest inspirations, Izabella credits her Granny J (Janet Howard) and her mother, Robyn Bejarano Sanchez. “My Granny J put me into swimming when I was little because she believed you need to be in a sport,” Izabella shares. “I stuck with it because she pushed me and got me to where I am today. My mom also helped me with school and supported me through many obstacles, especially as I navigated school with Dyslexia.”

As Izabella prepares for this next chapter, we know she will continue to thrive and inspire. With her talent, resilience, and unwavering support system, there’s no doubt that this Lady Titan’s journey is just getting started.

Congratulations Izabella, your future is taking flight, and we will be cheering you on every step of the way!
