Ramses Armando Muñoz, a 17-year-old Senior at Grand Terrace High School, is a shining example of dedication and balance. With a 3.5 GPA, he has excelled in academics while maintaining a rigorous schedule filled with sports, cultural activities, and leadership roles.

Ramses first started playing football in 2018 with the Bloomington Bruins under Coach Anthony Steel, taking on positions as a Defensive End and Tight End. Since then, his love for the game has only grown. As a freshman at GTHS, he stayed busy by joining multiple sports, such as, soccer, basketball, swim, track and field, and football. He mentioned that football has always been his favorite. Now, in his Senior year, he proudly serves as the football team captain, leading his teammates on and off the field.

Despite his packed schedule, Ramses remains deeply rooted in his Mexican heritage. He is the President of the school's Folklorico Club, where he celebrates his culture through traditional dance and customs such as Charreada and Danza Azteca. His passion for his roots is a reflection of the strong values his parents have instilled in him.

When asked about his biggest influences, Ramses speaks from the heart: “My mom, Bety Muñoz, has always taught me to be humble and respect others. She shaped me, even when it wasn’t easy, and I thank her for never giving up on me. My dad, Armando Muñoz, has been my role model. He’s never missed a single football game of mine, no matter the distance or the weather. He’s always the loudest voice in the stands, cheering me on in his #20 shirt.”

For Ramses, his family has been the constant source of motivation, giving him the strength to handle the challenges of being a Senior. Alongside new coaches, uniforms, and teachers, the unpredictability of the season, including the cancellation of games like the cross-town rivalry against Colton High School due to poor air quality, has added to the rollercoaster of emotions.

Even with these challenges, Ramses continues to find a positive outlook. He credits his Titan Brothers Exzavior Oliver (#30), Michael Defalco (#9), and Nicholas Romo (#22) who have always supported him, both on and off the field. He’s learned that in tough situations, focusing on the positive can make all the difference.

Ramses also expresses gratitude to ASB Director Mr. Ruiz, whom he admires for his passion and creativity in organizing events for GTHS. "Mr. Ruiz puts his heart into everything he does, and that’s something I really look up to," says Ramses.

Looking toward the future, Ramses plans to attend college and pursue a career as a Criminal Investigator. His aspirations also include creating a stable home and building a family of his own.

As Ramses reflects on his journey, he shares one of his favorite quotes: “Take every opportunity you get and make the most of it” – Pitbull. He encourages his fellow students to make the best of every challenge and opportunity, no matter the obstacles in their path.

Ramses's high school journey has been filled with lessons, hard work, and gratitude. He’s excited to continue his education and career but remains thankful for the opportunities and the people who have shaped him at GTHS. "Everyone has played an important role in my life, and I wish them nothing but the best," he says.

We wish Ramses all the best as he steps into the next chapter of his life. There’s no doubt that the best is yet to come.
