The Blue Mountain Festival, formerly known as Grand Terrace Community Day, brought everyone together for a day filled with entertainment, local culture and helping others.
Held at the Richard Rollins Park, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, this year’s festival drew record crowds, eager to partake in the festivities and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
An annual highlight of this community event is the Mickey’s Car Show, sponsored by the Grand Terrace Lions Club and Grand Terrace Cars & Coffee. Featuring a stunning collection of 37 vintage and diverse vehicles, this event drew car enthusiasts from across the area.
Many of these classic cars lead the festival parade – bringing back a tradition that many long-term residents remember.
Adding to the festival's charm was the Grand Terrace Lions Club’s Hot Dog stand. Offering the best hot dog and hamburger combos, people lined up to enjoy these tasty meals.
A very special new addition was the inaugural Grand Terrace Lions Club’s "We Serve" Beer Garden, where attendees could enjoy and sample fine beers from The Beer Room, while supporting the community. The beer garden was a sold-out success, offering a relaxed atmosphere for festival-goers and their families to have a good time, play games and socialize.
“We are thrilled with the turnout this year,” said Becky Giroux, Grand Terrace Lions Club Vice President, “Mickey’s Car Show, the Hot Dog Stand and the 'We Serve' Beer Garden are not just about enjoying the Blue Mountain Festival, it’s about helping others.”
The Grand Terrace Lions Club was just one of the many volunteer organizations and individuals that made the Blue Mountain Festival an outstanding success.
Ruthanne Christianson, a long-time Lions Club member (actually the first woman honored to join), added, “The support from the community, especially the young volunteers, has been heartwarming. It shows that the spirit of giving and service is alive and well in Grand Terrace.”
The Lions Club, known for its dedication to community service, used this opportunity to raise funds for its charitable projects and services.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Grand Terrace Lions Club's various charitable projects and services, ensuring that the spirit of community support continues well beyond the festival.
Mickey’s Car Show will allow at least two families to attend the Lions Diabetes Camp at Teresita Pines in Wrightwood. Other Grand Terrace Lions Club’s projects include vision programs, youth programs such as Scouts, food distribution and other essential services in Grand Terrace area.
