UPDATE: Reports have come in that the situation has been diffused and the suspect has been taken into custody. Police are beginning to clear out of the area.

Reports have been coming in about a hostage situation on Pico and Wilmac Ave and City News Group is currently working to obtain details as they are released. A resident of Grand Terrace has taken his mother hostage. Reports are that the suspect is armed with a weapon and may be mentally unstable.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the bomb squad, a bear cat, a helicopter and a Life Flight helicopter as a precaution. No one is being allowed into the area as it is a very active scene. A man reporting to be the suspect's brother is on the scene trying to help diffuse the situation. The neighbors have reported that the suspect is a regular that can be seen riding his scooter up and down the streets.

The Sheriff’s Department is in communication with the suspect via loudspeaker. The scene is very active and it is recommended for everyone to stay away from the area.

There are reports that Terrace View Elementary Route near this area (Pico & Dutch) will not be bussing students. Parents must pick up those kids at the school. Please call your child's school to verify.

City News Group will provide full details once they have been made available.
