The annual Light Up Grand Terrace event is set to bring holiday cheer on Thursday, December 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. This much-anticipated celebration will take place at the Azure Hills Church parking lot, offering a festive lineup of entertainment, activities, and community spirit, as well as a special surprise visit from Santa Claus himself!

“Light Up Grand Terrace is always the Thursday after Thanksgiving,” an event organizer shared during a recent interview. “This year, it lands on December 5. The event starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. It’s definitely an event to come out and enjoy.”

Entertainment for Everyone

This year’s entertainment roster promises a vibrant mix of music and dance. Local performers include the Grand Terrace High School Band and Pep Squad, the Cheer Factory, Folklorico dancers, and choirs from Azure Hills and the Church Fire in Christ. “We’re excited to showcase such a variety of talent,” the organizer added. “There’s something for everyone.”

The festivities will also feature Dance Dimensions, adding to the energetic atmosphere with dynamic performances.

Booths, Food, and Fun

For those who love holiday shopping, the event boasts an array of vendor booths offering handmade Christmas crafts. While these booths are already fully booked, attendees can look forward to browsing unique, locally made gifts. Community groups like the Lions Club, the Women’s Club, and the Chamber of Commerce will also have booths providing information about their organizations.

Adding to the festive cheer, food trucks, a petting zoo, a train ride, and photo opportunities with Santa Claus promise fun for the whole family. For a playful twist, the Grinch will also be roaming the event, spreading his brand of mischievous holiday humor.

Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Parade

The highlight of the evening is the tree lighting ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m. “We’ll have the high school band and the color guard to start things off,” said the organizer. A special holiday parade—or "cruise"—will follow, starting at the fire station and concluding at the event site.

“Sheriffs, members from Cars and Coffee, and the fire engine carrying our city council members and Santa Claus will lead the parade,” explained the organizer. “They’ll stop in front of the tree for the ceremony and the lighting.”

A Community Celebration

Organized by a dedicated Light Up Grand Terrace Committee, the event is a labor of love that highlights the unity and holiday spirit of Grand Terrace.

With a packed schedule of entertainment, activities, and community involvement, Light Up Grand Terrace is a must-attend event for residents and visitors alike. "Tons to see and do," promised the organizer, encouraging everyone to join the festivities.

Mark your calendars for December 5, and get ready to ring in the holiday season in true Grand Terrace style!
