Stater Bros. Markets Now Accepts EBT SNAP Payments for Same-Day Delivery and Pickup via Instacart

Stater Bros. Markets, the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California, is pleased to announce that they will now be accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) payments for orders made through Instacart.

The purpose of SNAP, also known as CalFresh in California, is to provide monthly food benefits to low-income individuals and families, allowing them to afford more nutritious foods. EBT SNAP will be available for purchases made at Stater Bros. via the Instacart website and mobile app, making same-day delivery and pickup available to more customers and expanding the range of options available for obtaining fresh, healthy, and nutritious food.

“Stater Bros. has always been committed to caring for our local communities,” said Rebecca Calvin, Senior Vice President, and Chief Marketing Officer. “This partnership allows us to do just that by making affordable same-day delivery and pickup accessible to more Southern California families.”

Instacart and Stater Bros. Markets first partnered in 2016 to offer same-day delivery and pickup. EBT SNAP acceptance on Instacart is powered by Carrot Payments, part of Instacart Platform, the company’s suite of enterprise-grade technology solutions. To order same-day grocery delivery or pickup online from Stater Bros. Markets, customers must create a profile using Instacart’s website or mobile app. Customers can enter their EBT food card information as a form of payment in their profile. Customers will need a secondary form of payment for non-food items such as taxes, tips, and fees per federal SNAP guidelines.

“We're proud to expand our partnership with Stater Bros. Markets to provide families with a more affordable and convenient way to access fresh nutritious foods and pantry staples,” said Sarah Mastrorocco, VP & GM of Access to Food & Nutrition at Instacart. "We recognize the role we play in expanding EBT SNAP availability for beneficiaries. This launch serves as a massive milestone for Californians as we continue to increase access to food and nutrition.”
