The Kyle Robert Garcia Bacon Memorial Field

Have you ever wondered why the t-ball field was named Kyle’s Field?

It was the year 2007. 15 year old Kyle succumbed to brain cancer after battling it for 4 years. He was diagnosed while attending Terrace View Elementary School and it came back while he was at Terrace Hills Middle School. Kyle played soccer and baseball all his young life with our GT leagues. He fought through all 4 years of cancer and still played ball in between.

Someone on the GT Little League at the time named the t-ball field after Kyle. What an amazing and loving thing to do. On April 2nd, 2022, the City of Grand Terrace, City Council, and Mayor Darcy McNaboe presented an official naming of the field as the Kyle Robert Garcia Bacon Memorial Field. In attendance were the Bacon family, several of Kyle’s coaches including Tommy Rivera, Bill Hussey, and Ed, and Kyle’s 6th grade Terrace View teacher Mr. Fletcher.

On this day, we remember that our kids are our everything. They mean everything to us. We bring them here to the field to do what kids love to do, play ball, and we form a “baseball/softball” family by doing so. Kyle represents all of our kids. Cancer is ugly. Let’s not forget the ones who are no longer here on the playing field with us; they play on a bigger field now.
