They say Nashville, Tenn. possesses some of the greatest country talent on earth. Recently, music duo Jenny and Tyler have splashed onto the music scene, bringing attention to a new wave of musical genre: pop folk Christian music. Jenny and Tyler traveled west and settled in Grand Terrace, where they performed for a Blue Mountain community audience at the Azure Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church. The duo’s musical chemistry was apparent as they expressed their faith. One especially heartfelt moment came when Tyler shared testimony about his experience in dealing with the death of a good friend, advising visitors not to take life for granted. Jenny and Tyler’s journey together began in college at the University of Delaware, where they met, fell in love, and began their venture of spreading the Christian gospel through music and song. Today, the couple is married and have a 7-month old daughter, who accompanies her parents on the road as they travel throughout the country. During the Grand Terrace performance, Tyler expressed his unconditional love for his wife and daughter, Jane Mercy. A soft-spoken Jenny added that the feelings were mutual. Kristine Barker was an attendee who shared that she was impressed by the performance, and added that she enjoyed the show and complimented the couple for their contribution. Concert-goer Cambria Speyer was impressed with the story of Jenny and Tyler’s journey to Grand Terrace—the couple visited Azure Hills at the invitation of Tiffany Gutenmakher, who was searching for a way to help raise funds for Mount of Olives Children’s Village in Mexico. Gutenmakher, along with other missionaries, planned the concert in hopes of supplying children at the orphanage with necessities including food, clothes, and shelter, and, she added, to give them spiritual guidance. Hannah Newsome has visited the orphanage several times, and felt it was one of the most beautiful experience she’s had. She spoke highly of orphanage founders Darrell and Maureen Graham, who started the foster home by a single donation from a friend of Darrell’s. Darrell and Maureen picked up and moved to Baja California, Mexico from Washington after witnessing the state in which the children in the orphanage were living. Darrell shared that concerns for the children weighed heavily on his heart and he felt compelled to make a change. He and Maureen established the home, which houses more than 20 foster children whose families are unable to care for them at this time. The Jenny and Tyler concert presented an evening of entertainment for residents, coupled with the opportunity to support and give to a bigger cause.
